Early Childhood Program Sponsored by Central Lutheran Church
Our Motto: "Play... the way kids learn best"
In our preschool and 4K classes we believe that the basis for learning in young children is their active play. Our programs nurture and support the individual and unique development of young children by emphasizing developmentally appropriate activities that address each child's need for and interest in creativity, language skills, problem solving and decision making skills, cognitive growth, social interaction, physical movement, family involvement, and fun.

Christa DeVoll - preschool teacher
I am a teacher in the preschool classroom. Having enjoyed the experience as a parent sub, I was excited to accept a teaching position when the opportunity was presented.
I graduated from the Edgerton High School in 1992. I did general studies coursework at UW LaCrosse, studied psychology at UW Whitewater and completed early childhood classes at Blackhawk Technical College.
My husband Mark and I have 2 children, Charlie 14 and Natalie 9. Both are graduates of Central’s preschool and 4K programs. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, sewing and attending sporting events.
“It’s vital that there is an open line of communication between parents and teachers. We are most successful as a team!”
Carly Casey - preschool assistant teacher
I am very excited about my first year at Central Lutheran as a preschool assistant teacher! I have a daughter, Lexi, who is in 4K at Central. While she was in preschool here last year I had the opportunity to substitute in her classroom which I enjoyed very much. After graduating from the Cambridge High School I attended MATC and began working in child care. I've worked with ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
Lexi and I moved to Edgerton 1 1/2 years ago. I enjoy spending my free time with my family, going up north to our cabin, roasting marshmallows or playing with our dogs in the backyard. I'm truly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to a great year!
Kathy Nelson AM 4K Support Staff
I am support staff for the morning 4 year old kindergarten class. My 4K kids call me Mrs. Nelson.
Early Childhood Education classes at Blackhawk Tech. prepared me for this position. This year marks my 19th year with Central Lutheran’s early childhood program. I love my days with the 4 year olds!
My husband John works at Nelson Young Lumber. Our children both attended preschool here at Central many years ago and are both graduates of UW Madison. Our daughter and her husband have recently moved back to this area. She is a 5th grade teacher here at Community. We enjoy many activities as a family such as downhill skiing, boating, hiking and reading.
My mornings are spent playing and laughing. Everyday I am privileged to see life through the eyes of 4 year olds.
Barbara Grabow Director
I have been Director of Central Lutheran’s early childhood program since it began 30 years ago. 30 years ago!
Although my education and employment career began in nursing, I earned a degree in Early Childhood Education at UW Whitewater in 1993.
My husband Ron taught science at the Edgerton Middle School and is retired. None of our 4 children lives in Edgerton so we travel for visits when we can. We especially like to visit when we can attend the athletic and school events of our 5 grandchildren.
When not at the preschool, I enjoy reading, shopping, spending time at our cabin with family and friends and, especially, traveling. Ask me about polar bears in Churchill and moose in Newfoundland!
